Modern Calligraphy

I am painfully aware of how long it has been since I've last posted on here. For those of you that are still listening, thank you. For those of you who are just joining, welcome!

My life is currently in the throws of holiday prepping, wedding planning, and two-year old momma-ing. Unfortunately my writing has taken a back seat these past few months, but in the short hours of personal time I still hold on to, I have taken to learning calligraphy. My new skill began as an ambition to address our wedding save the dates and invitations. I am now flirting with the idea of doing this for strangers too. 

Truthfully, calligraphy is very therapeutic and relaxing (so... the perfect hobby for a perpetually stressed toddler momma).  I've taken some workshops and classes, and I have really found my style, and I'm pretty excited about it. 

I managed to address our save the dates, but for the sake of not sharing people's personal addresses online, I won't share them. They started out looking a little casual, but as I continued, my style improved. I think with in time I could actually do this. In the meantime, I'll continue practicing.

Dancing Around It.

When I was three-years old my family moved away from our small house in the noisy suburbs to a bigger home outside of town with more space and less people.  I was sad to leave my tiny bedroom and the familiar face of our neighborhood mailman.  My small, intimate space was comfortable and cozy, and I wasn't sure I wanted that to change.

Throwing Tissues

The house is empty, Jamesie is asleep, the laundry is folded and the dishes are clean.  All of my things.... the simple treasures I have collected together - pages ripped from Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot magazines, my beloved honey-brown leather journal, the ever useful Get To Workbook, and a couple artful May Designs notebooks - lay scattered across the kitchen table.
